Hero Wars-Answers from the Developers, 01/30/20

This January we asked you about the questions you might have to our developers. We picked the most popular ones, sent them to the devs and now we have the answers! Let’s dive right in.
Q: One Portal Charge per day is not enough. Will you increase the maximum amount?
A: We are thinking about the ways to improve that. Adventures is still a fairly new game mode, so we approach all the possible changes with caution. We are worried that adding more Portal Charges can force players into completing too many Adventures per day, all the while there are plenty of other game modes that also take time. So we don’t want to increase the daily amount of Portal Charges on a regular basis. However, we are considering special events of a sort, during which players would gain Portal Charges. And for now, we are taking a non-direct approach to the Portal Charges question. For example, just recently we added Private Groups and invitation system. This helps to prevent unpleasant situations in which players could spend their Portal Charge and still not finish an Adventure due to human factor.
Q: Will you make a blacklist for guildmates I don’t want to see in the Adventures?
A: We don’t want you to have a blacklist for your own guildmates but now you can create Private Groups. Your guildmates can join them only by invitations.
Q: Will you make it so that players could exchange resources with their guildmates and friends?
A: We like the idea of players cooperating with each other, so this is why we are developing game modes and some special events around this theme. Take Adventures and Winterfest event for example. In the latter, you could send and receive gifts containing various resources. However, making it a regular part of the game will lead to unfair game practices with bots and multiple accounts. So in the end, we’d love to have more cooperation mechanics in the game, and we will most likely be having them in a form of special events or even new game modes!
Q: When will we be able to change Bronze and Silver Trophies to Gold ones? Certain Skins can now be bought for Gold Trophies only, and this is not fair.
A: We’re going to stick to the system that’s in the game now. We strongly believe that the game should give valuable rewards to the players that they can be proud of. And these unique Guild War Shop rewards are supposed to be the major motivation for the players to get into a higher league. Yes, only the best can enter the Silver and Gold Leagues, but our idea is to make every player want to get there.
Q: Will you add more puzzles to the game?
A: Sure! We love puzzles and we will add more to the game eventually.
Q: Will you add a manual fight mode on Arena and Grand Arena?
A: In this scenario, a defending team will always be in a big disadvantage, since a player doesn’t control it. We don’t want that to happen, even though manual mode is obviously very interesting on its own. We have it in Guild Wars, for example, because you can fight back, so manual mode does not cause a disadvantage for anyone.
Q: Will you make a counter of spent emeralds in the Altar of the Elements to see how much is left until the next totem?
A: We decided to protect the players who were unlucky in trying to get the totem from the Titan Artifact Spheres and introduced a kind of “protection against bad luck”: at certain values of the emeralds expenditure the totem drops with a 100% chance. It seems unfair that if you spend a lot of emeralds and don't get any totems, so this system exists for such cases.
But the main source of totems is still not this protection, but a regular chance of a drop. It is always there, and you can always acquire a totem with the same chance from both paid and free spheres. We don’t want to make this counter a part of the Altar’s interface because it can be misleading – you might think that it’s a required amount of emeralds for getting a totem, but it’s not.
Q: It’d be great to have a chat window available in all the game modes. Will you do it?
A: It sounds good. We are glad to hear that players would like to communicate with each other on every possible occasion. We’ll think about the possible ways to make it happen!
Q: I’d like to open 1 Summoning Sphere, Titan Artifacts Sphere, Summoning Egg, etc., if there are more than 10 of them in the inventory. Will you make it happen?
A: We believe that it is impractical to do something that will artificially slow down game progress. Remaking all these windows where you can open the resources is much more difficult than it looks, and its development will take time. Instead, we would like to spend our work resources and time on developing things that will be useful to the vast majority of players.
Q: How do you approach reworks of old heroes? And creating new ones? Do you assess the current situation of the game?
A: Before releasing a new hero or changing an old one, we always carefully assess the current state of the game. We take notice of most and least popular heroes and hero combinations. When we decide to give an old hero a rework, we sometimes take the amount of their skins into consideration. If there’s not too many, we can rework that hero and release a new skin for them. If an old hero is just not good and players don’t use them, it’s a valid reason to change that hero as well. Or sometimes there’s a case when that old hero had been viable some time ago, but then became weaker as some new heroes were introduced – a good reason for a rework!
Q: Do the developers have a favorite Hero Skin? And can they give an advice on which Skins to upgrade first?
A: We got many opinions on the favorite Skin, so we voted! Here's our Top-3 personal favorite Hero Skins. Ziri's Devil Skin became the number one favourite, Astrid and Lucas’ Devil Skin takes the second place. Third place is shared by Astaroth's Devil and Barbarian Skins, Dark Star's Spring Skin and Satori's Cybernetic Skin.
To decide which Skin to upgrade first, you need to pay attention not only to the Hero's Main Stat. Always have in mind other important Stats you can find in the Stats and Artifact sections (usually the second Artifact indicates the most significant Stats). Tanks need to survive longer, so you should consider upgrading Armor or Health Skins. Main Damage Dealers would benefit more from Skins that grant additional Physical or Magic attack, Armor or Magic Defence Penetration. Don’t forget about Skills! Many of them depend on a specific Stat. You can learn that from Skills’ descriptions.
Oh, and it's a good time to remind everyone that all the unlocked Skins work at the same time, regardless of which one is currently equipped!
Q: What are your plans for 2020?
A: This year players can expect lots of new updates! Aside from new heroes and game modes improvements, we have quite a lot of fresh ideas. We won’t be able to cover the whole year now, but we do want to share some info about the nearest plans. In February, one of the older heroes will be reworked. Also, we will celebrate St. Valentine’s Day with a Special Event. The most exciting month for us is March, because we are going to celebrate another Hero Wars anniversary! To do so, we are working on a unique Special Event, unlike anything you’ve seen before. Everyone who will join us can count on gifts! That will be a lot of fun, so make sure you don’t miss out on our big celebration!

  1. I'm interested in Q "Will you make a blacklist for guildmates I don’t want to see in the Adventures?" I really need this feature, because some players are very stubborn and spoil the adventure every time. At the same time, inviting 15-20 players from 30 every day is a kind of hardwork.
