Why do I fight players from higher leagues?

The leagues system represents player's personal rating. Ranks and rewards are given to players depending on their position in rating leaderboards.

You can be matched against a player from another league while participating in Clan Wars or in one of the special events which are introduced into the game from time to time and offer unique rewards. In these cases the leagues do not influence the selection of opponents for you, since Clan Wars are aimed at gaining dominance over the whole server leaderboard and events are mostly represented by PvE missions. Clan Wars matchmaking is based on the overall power of all members of the team that takes part in battle.

The event competitions are not influenced by the league system, because event leaderboards are common for all players on the server and dynamic gameplay is required to provide maximum amount of players with a chance to compete within the given period of time. Nevertheless, all the opponents are matched so that every player could have a chance to win if the battle disposition is favourable to him or her.

I often lose in PvP battles. What should I do?

A real-time battle with another player is always exciting and complicated, and there can be only one winner. If you think about it, having a 50% winrate in battles is really a normal battle stat!

Don't forget to enhance your troops by upgrading their stats and abilities, and you'll find it easier to score a win! You can upgrade your troops in your base: for example, in the Command Center. You can learn more about upgrades here.

It is also important to note, that it isn't very secure in terms of strategy to rely on one particular kind of troops. It is the combination of different types of troops that raises your chance of success. The thing is, different units are adapted to face different threats and fight most effectively against the troops they are supposed to counter. All units possess special abilities that fulfill their potential only in combination with those of other troops. If you rely solely on your infantry squads, your overall damage will never be as high as it could be in case of cooperative use of tanks, jeeps, snipers, rpg-units and basic infantry. Leveling out the development ratio among all of your units is always a good option. In a situation when player, for example, has an advanced tank or marine squad and his other units still lack a lot of upgrades, it can be difficult for him to oppose more balanced armies. And don't forget about tactics; it will definitely help you to gain an advantage over stronger opponents.

How does matchmaking work?

Finding an opponent of similar power is a tough task, and there are several criteria of search. The game tries to match you with an opponent of roughly the same power, but if it doesn't find one in a certain time period, the criteria boundaries expand a bit, and the search starts again. This works the same for Clan Wars, except it's the summarized team power that's used to find opponents.

Here's the list of criteria of matchmaking search:

Power level of your army. The more upgrades your troops have (this includes stats, special abilities and skill tree), the more powerful opponents you'll face.

Your winrate (percentage of your wins and losses) on current power level. The more wins you score, the more powerful your enemies will become! The opposite works too: if you lose a battle or two, then the matchmaking will find a slightly weaker opponent for you.

Don't forget to upgrade your troops and tech when you have the option to do so, and you'll be getting stronger and stronger with each day!

During the battle I've suddenly got Defeat window. What's wrong?

Under Control is very demanding to the stability of the Internet connection, since all battles take place in real time.

Most often, the defeat window will pop up (before the end of the battle) if you or a person on your team lost Internet connection or had a lag. Also, similar issues during a game may be caused by:

Router configuration;

Network congestion;

Using a proxy/VPN, etc.;

Certain software (anti-virus, firewall, ad blocking plugin for your browser, etc);

Limited access to the Internet at the workplace;

PLEASE NOTE! If you constantly encounter issues with battle crashes or battle loading problems and the above mentioned troubleshooting steps do not solve them, then please submit a report to our support team. Make sure you accompany it with a screenshot showing your in-game ID (which can be found just under the game window), your system time at the bottom of your screen and the game console that can be opened with Ctrl+Shift+Enter key combination.

Please provide us with all the details possible. If you do not provide info on the issue in the first report, it will be requested by support team agents anyway, and the investigation of your issue will probably be delayed. Please note, that troops losses reimbursement requires screenshots and thorough report as stated above.

What are Events?

In addition to the main storyline, Under Control also features additional story missions available in the so-called Events which are held in the game on a regular basis.

In fact, each of these events is a separate story you can actually take part in.

Participating in these missions can grant you a significant amount of in-game rewards, including elite mercenaries, rare sets for your infantry and vehicles, or unique specialists that can dramatically increase your army’s effectiveness.

Each of these events consists of 2 phases, each 7 days long — the preparation phase and the active phase.

During the preparation phase your aim is collecting special items which are given for victories in main storyline missions and PvP fights. The more of these items you manage to gather during the preparation phase, the more unique goods will be available for you to purchase during the event’s active phase. On top of that, you can also get a number of one-time rewards while collecting the special items.

With the beginning of the event’s active phase a whole new location will open up on the world map, featuring all the event missions you can complete. Completing each of them will grant you a certain amount of the special currency which can then be spent in the event shop to purchase unique mercenaries, vehicles, specialists, support units and other rewards.

What is gold?

Gold is the most precious in-game currency. It allows you to instantly build or upgrade something. Also, it is required to hire elite troops and vehicles. The main source of gold is a Daily Quest. Each level you gain increases your gold reserve. Also, you can get gold by completing certain quests or buy it with real money.

How do you upgrade soldiers, vehicles and support troops?

The enemy is on high alert: every day, they are growing stronger and their weaponry becomes ever more up-to-date. So you need to keep up with the latest military developments and improve your combat techniques. You can only repel Specter by upgrading your troops at the right time!

Soldiers and vehicles are upgraded at the Command Center. The upgrades can be of the following types: 

Stats improvement. You can improve three in-game stats: hit points/armor points, damage to infantry and damage to vehicles. 

Equipment improvement. In-game equipment is arranged in the form of a development tree where you can subsequently purchase various upgrades for your troops. For instance: the RP-101 Mk. 1 Machine Gun for Machine Gunners that increases the damage done to infantry by 6 points. 

Abilities. 4 abilities are available for each type of troops. For instance: the R-1 Combat Grenade for Trooper deals 16 damage to infantry and 580 damage to vehicles.

As for the support units, they are upgraded in the Research Facility building. There are two types of upgrades:

Basic parameters. There are two characteristics available for upgrade here: damage to infantry and damage to vehicles.

Additional Upgrades that are unique for each of the support units.

IMPORTANT: Successful install of the Additional Upgrades is not guaranteed. The success depends on the so-called "Research Chance".

If the research is successful, you get the upgrade. If it's not, you get nothing. In such cases the money spent for the upgrade is not returned. To increase the Research Chance, purchase Additional Upgrades with gold.

What are Data Chips and where can I get them?

Build a Military Lab. In this building you can upgrade your regular troops using special Data Chips. Upgraded troops have increased performance and capacity compared to their normal counterparts, but before a battle they are inserted into the ordinary, yellow slots, not into the ones for the elite troops. Upgrade your army with new and improved soldiers! 

Once every every one and a half days a new mission will appear on the map, if you complete it successfully, you will get a few Data Chips. These missions require your maximal output and a skilled choice of troops for combat! You will have to work hard, but the rewards are worth it. :) 

It should be noted that each type of troops needs its own type of Data Chip for upgrades in Military Lab.

What are Clan Wars?

After joining a clan you can participate in "Clan Wars". Team up with your allies and fight other clans in 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3 battles! 

Each win grants you a certain amount of Glory points that are required to advance your technology and battle skills: 

• 1x1 win — 1 Glory point 

• 2x2 win — 2 Glory points 

• 3x3 win — 3 Glory points 

Each day the results of Clan Wars are announced, and top 20 clans that earned the largest amount of Glory points get a special reward: Artifacts.

Additionally, you receive 1 artifact for each battle won in a series of 3 wins, and scoring 5 Clan War wins grants you 2 Artifacts. 

You can check the Artifacts available to you in the Psi-generator in your base. 

What is Capturing Territory? How does one capture a city?

Territory

The entire map is divided into regions, each of which has several cities. Each captured city brings the clan a certain amount of Influence. If a city is lost, Influence is deducted. To fully capture the region of a clan you need to get more than 50% Influence in the region.

Diplomacy

Participate in clan battles to earn Diplomacy Points for your clan, which the leader can then spend on a variety of strategic actions, such as attacking other cities and defending his own. But note, there is a limit to Diplomacy Points, after which they will no longer accumulate!

Battles

To capture a city you need to bring its HP to 0. After a capture, HP is fully restored.

Attack

In order to attack an enemy city, the head of the clan must select it and start the battle for Diplomacy Points.

When a clan attacks a city it goes into "under attack" status, and in this state no other clans can attack the city. The city remains under attack until a day goes by since the last hit, or until it is captured. In either of these cases, hp of the city is restored after it is no longer under attack.

Protection

If a city of a clan is attacked, the head of the clan can spend Diplomacy Points to restore it.

What is Technologies?

Technologies are upgrades for your regular troops stationed in the Command Center. Each Technology adds a certain amount of life and damage points to a specific soldier. In order to be able to Research the Technology, your clan must have a certain amount of Influence Points that it received in the captured territories. 

If you have gained access to a specific Technology, Researched it, and then your clan lost all its Influence, the Technology will no longer be active. Your clan must re-earn Influence points, and then the Technology will become active again (you do not have to Research it again).

What is the game objective?

We have created the Resistance to fight against General Krieg and his Specter. To successfully oppose such a powerful and insidious enemy, you need to expand and fortify your base and repel his attacks in various spots around the globe!

What are resources for?

Money is the main in-game resource. You need it for various purposes such as: purchasing equipment, clearing territory, constructing buildings, and so on. Food is necessary to recruit troops, equipment and artillery. Fuel is consumed when you take part in various missions, such as Battles for Diamonds, Operations, and Clan Wars. 

How do you get money, food and fuel?

They are all produced in special structures at your base. The Terranite Mine supplies you with money, the Marketplace provides food, and the Oil Platform produces fuel. These structures produce resources automatically. All you need to do is collect them from time to time.

What are residents? How do you get more residents?

Residents are Teimur's civilian population. To thank you for rescuing them, they are doing their best to help develop your base. You need to build residential buildings to attract more residents. 

Training soldiers, vehicles and support troops

The training of soldiers, vehicles and support troops consists of several stages.

First, you need to stockpile the required parts. The primary source of parts are the Smugglers. Also, you can find parts while clearing ruins or you can get them for completing quests.

Then, you need to make equipment out of the parts. Go to the Armory to make infantry gear; visit the Arsenal to equip support troops; use the War Factory to produce weapons for your armored vehicles.

The final stage is the training of troops. You will need the Barracks (the Factory or the Assembly Workshop respectively) where the instructors will help you make the end product out of the parts.

What are elite troops?

These are specialized troops that have their own weapons and abilities. Elite troops can be enhanced by using additional weapons. To learn about the possibilities of mercenary upgrades, build the Legion Agenc

I upgraded a soldier to level 28, then it was suggested that I raise his rank. What it is?

You can raise the rank of your troops after they reach level 28. If you raise the rank of your soldier, then he will get a new set of officers absolutely free, and the performance and skills of the soldier can be upgraded by up to 20 levels.

Ranks are available for both regular and for elite troops. 

You are given the opportunity to raise the rank of elite troops only after you have acquired all possible upgrades for the soldier. 

Military Experts

You can unlock military experts when you reach a certain reputation by taking part in Operations. Military experts boost your soldiers' morale, thus increasing their stats in combat.

What are Operations?

Operations are sets of special missions available at level 10. Your primary objective is to complete several quests before the countdown timer runs out. When you successfully complete an operation, you obtain recon data that can grant access to military experts. Only two operations may be shown on the map at a time. After you complete an operation, another one will be available in around 24 hours.

 The Battle for Diamonds Tournament

To go to the tournament map, click the Missions button and then select Battle for Diamonds. The battle starts daily at 0:00 AM GMT and lasts exactly 24 hours. During the tournament, you can fight PvP battles to earn ranking points and diamonds, an extremely precious resource required to buy and upgrade mercenaries. Players who place in the Top 50 based on the day's results will get extra ranking points!

"Fire from Cover", "Smoke Screen" and "Death Mark" are special abilities, that, when used can drastically affect the course of the battle!

In order to gain access to special abilities, you must build Tactical Directorate (the building is available starting at level 11). The abilities upgrade themselves the same way as regular forces upgrade in the Command Center. Upgrading abilities requires a certain amount of Glory. Glory Points, in turn, are awarded for victories in Clan Wars. Note that if you Research an ability once, you can use it as often as necessary, there are no additional costs for using a capacity!

Remember that every ability can only be used once per battle, consider this when choosing tactics! 

Chat

The in-game chat allows you to communicate with other players, send them some important information, or find new friends. The chat has multiple language groups for players from different countries. To enter the chat, click the respective button in the bottom right corner.

The chat has certain rules. Please read them carefully as ignorance of the rules is not an excuse for violating them! Enjoy! :)

Clans

Creating a clan

In order to join an existing clan or create a new one, you first need to build a Radio Tower. To get the ability to construct that building, you need to reach Level 10. Radio Tower can only be built near your Command Center.

As soon as the construction is completed, the game will launch a tutorial telling you about the basics of clan gameplay. You will then be able to see all the clans you can join, as well as to create your own. The game will let you choose a name and a flag for your clan.

Clan roles

This feature gives each clan member a certain role, based on their experience and the choice of the clan leader. Here are the roles:

Commander — clan’s leader. This rank is issued to the player who created the clan. He can manage the list of clan members, adding and removing players, and appoint Veterans.

Veteran —commander’s assistant. Can see the requests for joining the clan and approve them, as well as remove Grunts and Rookies from the clan.

Grunt — standard position in a clan.

Rookie — beginner position in a clan. All players are Rookies by default when joining a clan.

Here are things that are specific to the Rookie role:

During clan wars, Rookies can only participate in 1vs1 fights.

Battle won by a Rookie in clan wars do not give any points to his or her clan.

Rookies do not receive rewards that are given for completing a clan war season.

Rookies do not receive rewards for the last finished Wastelands Clearing event.

Rookie role is automatically changed to Grunt after finishing the current clan war season

Entering the clan

A clan leader can set minimum rank and rating requirements for those who want to join his or her clan. In addition to that, the leader can choose between 3 different modes of accepting new players to a clan:

Open — Any player meeting the clan’s requirements can join. Clan leader can also invite players manually.

By application — Any player meeting the clan’s requirements can apply for joining the clan. The leader can accept or deny every request. Clan leader can also invite players manually.

Closed — There is no way to apply for joining a clan. The only way to join a clan with this setting is to be invited by its leader.

Clan achievements

Radio Tower features a tab with clan achievements which can be issued to a clan for completing various tasks and requirements. By getting an achievement  the clan also gets a permanent increase to its influence which is required for capturing cities.

Clan presents

Any clan member can request a special gift from his or her clanmates every 8 hours. This can be a pack of blueprints, some resources, a support unit, a squad of basic or elite troops, a specialist, some data chips or the operation plans. If a required number of clan members reacts to the request, the gift will be successfully sent to the recipient. The better the present, the more clanmates will need to react to the request for it to be sent out.

Requesting gifts and reacting to clanmates’ requests is completely free and can be done in a special tab of the clan’s interface. Even better, you do not need to spend any of your resources or items to help your clanmate get a gift — the only thing needed is your vote.

Additional information

A clan can consist of no more than 21 players

Choose your clan name wisely — clans with names containing words or phrases violation of the Game Rules will be renamed or disbanded.

How are clan members distributed into threes, twos and ones on Clan Wars?

In the beginning, all players are divided into groups of three. If the number of applications submitted by a clan is less than three, or not a multiple of three, then the players are divided into groups of two. If less than two applications are submitted, only one player joins the battle.

Why do you need a premium account?

After you activate your premium account, the capacity of your storage facilities will increase and all production buildings will start working more efficiently. Also, you will get twice as many diamonds for winning Battles for Diamonds. You can activate a premium account for 1 week or 1 month.
